Writing time - for the first time in months
For the first time in months I've actually got some time to breathe and post something. Here's a sample of what's been going on - this should give an idea of why I've been too busy to post.
First, I changed offices. I was working in a company office about 16 miles from home; now I work in a government office 60 miles from home - and because it's a government office and a government computer I'm a bit limited on what I can do. For example, I don't have admin permission on this computer, so I can't install all the software I really need to do my job (I'm writing this with WordPad, fer chrissake, because I can't even install NoteTab so I don't have a decent text editor). Many web sites are blocked, some for no logical reason that I can figure out - there are even pages on Wikipedia I can't get to - so I often have problems reading reference material. C'est la Vie, I suppose.
Second, we moved house. The bastard that owned our old house decided to sell it and, humanitarian that he is, gave us a bit more than a month to move out. (Message for old landlord: if you're reading this, you know who you are, and you're a moneygrubbing c*nt; if this was Europe you'd be in a jail cell by now.)
Then back on the work front I've been swamped with project work. Today, for a change, I'm actually at a place where alll of the projects I'm involved with are stalled for various reasons.
So possibly for the rest of today I actually have the time to write something... watch this space, there may be more coming soon.
