Level 43
We weren't terribly far off new levels and we had a good number of points toward them "banked" in that we had a handful of quests completed but not cashed in for points. So before we went a-bashing, we made a trip to Rut'theran Village on Teldrassil to close one out then took the long flight south to Gadgetzan to close out another two there. Well I had two; Kate had three because she'd whacked Caliph Scorpidsting a day or two ago, and I hadn't. It made sense for me to get that one done - among other things it delivers over 7000 XP - so we went out to try to find him.
One of the other quests we'd closed out led to another which meant knocking over shadowmages, rogues and assassins; these baddies were all in the same area as Scorpidsting and so we were able to deal with this one while we were searching for him. As it happened, though, there were other players looking for the same guy and basically getting under our feet. One in particular, a blood elf, was very annoying - jumping and running all around us, standing real close during the fights, and just being a general pest. But after a while he buggered off and I was finally able to get Scorpidsting to myself.
Once he'd been dealt with we had just a few of the other guys to clean up to finish that other quest and once they were done we rode back to Gadgetzan to close out (and I think it was the quest XP at this point that pushed Kate to level 44 and me to 43), clear the junk from our backpacks and get repairs done. By then it was past time to finish for the night and so we hearthstoned back to Ironforge.
With the extra level we're ready to start the quests that'll get us the mechanical chicken pets (yes, it sounds silly - but also fun, and that's what it's all about), but I think before we start out on that road we want to finish up some older quests; in particular I'd like to get done with the Scythe of Elune quest in deepest, darkest Duskwood then head east from there through Deadwind Pass to the Swamp of Sorrows to gather the stuff we need for a quest that was given to us in Dustwallow Marsh. We may do that today.
